A Garden Party at Godmersham Park

Please note that this event is for the villagers of Godmersham, Crundale & Bilting only.

An exciting family event for the Parishes of Godmersham, Crundale & Bilting. Celebrating the launch of the Jane Austen £2 coin within the gardens of her brother's estate.

Jane Austen, one of the world's most famous authors, regularly stayed with her brother, Edward Knight, at Godmersham.  The house, countryside and people  here provided the inspiration for many of her novels.

2017 will mark the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, and Godmersham Park Heritage Centre is hosting a special event within the grounds to commemorate this and the launch of the £2 coin. Later this year the new £10 note will be launched by the Bank of England. This note will feature Godmersham Park alongside Jane Austen.

We would like to invite everyone from the Parishes of Godmersham & Crundale to a Garden Party on the South Lawn. Here guests will be treated to an afternoon tea with live regency harp music, by the renowned harpist Camilla Pay. There will be plenty of fun activities, including a duck race on the River Stour, a carousel, balloon race, raffle and traditional wooden games. Guests will be able to enjoy a relaxing walk through the gardens, including a visit to the Garden Temple Folly.

Don't miss out on the fun. This event is https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-garden-party-at-godmersham-park-tickets-33986220701 to attend, although we must stress the importance of booking a place to ensure that there is enough food for everyone. Every ticketholder will be allocated a duck for the race. We have a limited number of ducks, so book as soon as possible.

Please bring along friends and family and help make this a great day out for all the family.
